Evan Ferguson had the biggest moment of his young club career last weekend as he bagged a hat-trick against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle.

The Premier League’s biggest sensation has arrived in the biggest way he possibly could.

Becoming only the fourth player to score a hat trick in the Premier League aged 18 or under.

It moves him into second for the golden boot rankings with four, only bettered to the robot that is Erling Haaland who has scored six.

Ferguson has been at the forefront of dialogue by pundits this week with huge raise being sent his way, however they have also began questioning one thing.

The nationality of Ferguson has been raising discourse, with his availability for England gaining attention.

This however is something unlikely to transpire based on Ferguson’s past comments…

Ferguson won’t be changing nationality

Ferguson is already an Irish international, with six appearances and two goals already for the boys in green.

His immediate decision to represent Ireland is no surprise given he is born and bred in the Republic.

County Meath is where he hails from, with Bohemians the club he played for to begin his career.

However despite that, due to his English mother, the question of an allegiance switch has been raised.

According to the Express however, Ferguson said:

“That’s not gonna happen, no. My mam is English, so that’s where the tie comes in. But I’ve seen a few saying oh, will he? Will he? But I can tell you now it’s a no. I wouldn’t be allowed back by my dad.”

This is no surprise as unlike for example Declan Rice, the Brighton star is actually Irish so representing his nation will be a huge deal for him.

Hopefully that puts to bed rumours of a switch and Irish supporters can rest easy.
