‘He’s our player’: Brighton chief sends Chelsea strong message

The negotiations between Brighton and Chelsea over the signing of Moises Caicedo have dragged on all summer.

Chelsea had obviously listed Caicedo as their top target this summer in midfield, and have been chasing him for months.

With the Premier League only days away from starting, many believe Chelsea could have missed their chance.

With multiple bids from Chelsea already rejected, it seems that over the past few days Caicedo has took matters into his own hands.

The Mirror reported on Monday night that Caicedo had intentionally missed training due to his frustration over the negotiations.

Brighton are said to be holding out for a fee that matches the £105million that Arsenal paid West Ham for Declan Rice.

However Chelsea are increasingly reluctant to pay that fee.

David Weir speaks about Caicedo move

Brighton technical director David Weir today spoke with Sky Sports, about why the negotiations have continued to drag on.

He said: “We’ve not had an acceptable offer for Moises [Caicedo], so it’s really clear for us.

“Moises is our player, he’s under contract, he’s been fantastic for us in terms of what he’s done on the pitch for us, he’s been a big part of our success and that remains the case, there’s really nothing to report on that.”

He continued to reveal that despite all the information in the media, he and the club would love Caicedo to stay at Brighton.

“Until something happens that works for us as a club, then that will remain the case [Caicedo staying] and I think everyone’s clear on that.”

Judging by these comments, a move for Caicedo could be further away than it ever has been, with the Seagulls keen to keep him.
