Hull City boss Liam Rosenior has revealed that his club are in talks currently to sign Brighton and Hove Albion striker Aaron Connolly.

The Championship side are said to be keen on re-signing the Republic of Ireland forward following his time at the Tigers on-loan last season.

Connolly only made six appearances at Hull last season but managed to score two goals in his brief time there.

He spent the first half of last season in Italy on-loan at Venezia, however failed to make an impact in five games which saw him return to Brighton in January.

Following his return he was sent out again to Hull, however ended up missing 15 games through injury for the Northern side.

Connolly now looks set for a permanent departure with Hull now coming back in for the 23-year-old.

Hull in talks for Connolly

Hull were clearly impressed with the performances Connolly put in during his limited time fit last season.

They are now confirmed to be in talks for his permanent signature, with Hull boss Rosenior telling BBC Humberside:

“We’re having discussions but nothing imminent. I’m comfortable with the group. You’ll know when the time is right if Aaron comes in or not.”

Rosenior is a known admirer of the Irishman, calling him a ‘natural’ following his brace over QPR last January.

Hull likely would be signing Connolly as a luxury opposed to a necessity as they currently have a few striking options.

Oscar Estupinan, Benjamin Tetteh and new signing Liam Delap are all keen forwards who can play up front.

However, Connolly has already proven himself to be a steady option at a Championship side, and the chances of breaking through at Brighton are incredibly unlikely so a move could transpire.
