On Tuesday night, Brighton held their annual award ceremony in which Moises Caicedo was voted players’ player of the year.

Caicedo has been the subject of long negotiations this summer with Chelsea bidding as high as £80million for the Ecuadorian.

Brighton are believed to be holding out for their £100m valuation of Caicedo which so far has proved out of reach for Chelsea.

With Caicedo signing a new deal with Brighton toward the end of last season, Brighton are in a comfortable position.

With no desperation to sell, negotiations have dragged on and risk ending up with Brighton keeping hold of their star player.

However according to reports, Caicedo dropped a reminder to his employers, regarding his desire to leave this summer at the awards evening.

Caicedo wants to leave

According to Sussex World, Caicedo admitted his desire to leave while speaking with guests at the Brighton awards ceremony.

The outlet claims the 21-year-old didn’t hold anything back about his desire to leave the Amex.

It is however said that he didn’t mention Chelsea by name, just that he is keen on a move.

On a positive for Brighton, Caicedo was very grateful following his award win, accepting the trophy with a huge smile.

He said: “Thank you to everyone for everything and all the fans for your support in every game. I’m so happy,”

Following this he was also awarded the fans’ player of the year award, as he said: “Thank you, fans. Without your support, it wouldn’t be possible. I do this for my family; they are my inspiration,”.

He will likely now give the award to his mother whom he owes a lot of the success too.
