Conor Gallagher could be on the move this summer, and Brighton retain an interest in signing the midfielder.

According to Sussex World, Brighton and West Ham are interested in signing Conor Gallagher. The London club have already had a £40 million offer for the midfielder rejected by Chelsea, who want £50 million, according to The Athletic. The Seagulls are exploring the possibility of including Gallagher in a swap deal that would see Moises Caicedo head to Stamford Bridge.

Gallagher himself is keen to stay at Chelsea, and fight for his place under Mauricio Pochettino. However, a switch to the Amex Stadium would bring with it the chance to play Europa League football this season.

Should Brighton sign Conor Gallagher?

Gallagher’s versatility would make him an ideal addition to Roberto De Zerbi’s squad. The 23-year-old has the dynamism and work rate to make his presence felt at both ends of the pitch. In a Brighton side that are expected to attack quickly, and in numbers, and defend diligently as a unit, Gallagher could flourish.

The 7-cap England international needs to make sure that he’s getting regular starts next season. That’s not something he’ll be guaranteed at Chelsea. With Alexis Mac Allister having already left Brighton, and Caicedo looking set to depart, Gallgher could make himself the lynchpin of the club’s new look midfield.

De Zerbi has expressed his desire to keep Caicedo. Even if the Seagulls do manage to hang on to the Ecuadorian midfielder, they would be wise to pursue a deal for Gallagher regardless.
