Brighton are interested in signing Newell’s Old Boys winger Brian Aguirre.
According to TNT Sports and TyC Sports, Brighton have now joined the race to sign him alongside recently relegated Leicester City, who were reported to have been interested earlier this week.
It is said that he is ‘wanted’ by both Roberto De Zerbi and Enzo Maresca’s sides.
The reports say that one English club has made an offer of near $10 million (€9.2 million) that Newell’s would like for his services. However, it is not clear who has made the bid out of the two.
The website also claims that Newell’s had already rejected a proposal for the player earlier in the window from Inter Miami.
His contract at the South American club expires in December 2025.
Would Brian Aguirre be a good signing?

Aguirre is predominantly a left winger but can also play on the right-hand side. He is a current Argentina U20 international. He has scored three goals and got four assists in 28 games so far this year.
Following the injury to Julio Enciso, who is set to be on the sidelines following a knee injury, which could be a potential meniscus tear, this rumour comes as no surprise.
Brighton are renowned for their scouting in South America, bringing players such as Enciso, Moises Caicedo, Alexis MacAllister and Facundo Buonanotte over from the continent in the last few years.
With the Seagulls now in need of a winger to replace Enciso, Aguirre could fit the bill.
This would then mean that Buonanotte’s reported loan move to Leeds United can now go ahead, after there were concerns that Brighton may be hesitant to let him leave as it could leave them short with options on the wings.
