Hamilton Academical boss John Rankin has spoken out about Ryan One’s future, amid rumours of the teenager being targeted by Brighton this summer.
As quoted by the Daily Record, Rankin said, “it has been well documented that teams are looking at him and things are going on…he has been very mature about it. He has been really focused and he hasn’t wavered at all…he is very much part of our plans.”
Despite being in the midst of an extremely busy summer at the Amex Stadium, which has seen first team stars come and go, Roberto De Zerbi is still interested in 17-year-old One. It certainly sounds as though the youngster’s future remains up in the air.
The young forward is already a regular for Hamilton. He made 17 appearances for the Accies in the second tier of Scottish football last season, however the young forward was unable to prevent his side getting relegated.
One has already been involved this season. The Scottish football calendar is scheduled in such a way that means that the Scottish League Cup has already begun. One registered an assist against Clyde FC, and has been involved in all four of the club’s fixtures in the competition so far.

Could Ryan One be the next Evan Ferguson?
One is a long way from being ready for the Premier League. The Seagulls clearly see him as one for the future. However, One does have plenty of potential and maturity beyond his years.
Brighton may well be hoping to repeat the trick they pulled off when they brought Evan Ferguson to the club. 18-year-old Ferguson arrived from Dublin-based outfit Bohemians, and went on to score 10 goals in all competitions for the south coast club last season, including 6 strikes in the Premier League.
De Zerbi may well believe that Brighton have already managed to identify the next Ferguson in One. Brighton certainly have the financial might to prise the player away from Hamilton if they decide to push for a deal.
