Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi claims his side were ‘unlucky’ in their 3-1 defeat at home to West Ham United.
The Hammers took all three points at the AMEX yesterday evening, being only the third team to Brighton on their home turf this clanedar year.
They took the lead within 20 minutes courtesy of James Ward-Prowse, scoring his first goal for the icy. Since joining from Southampton.
Jarrod Bowen then doubled their lead after half-time with a lovely touch and finish from a Said Benrahma cross. Michail Antonio then got their third and final goal of the game with a superb turn before finishing calmly into the bottom left corner.
Pascal Groß did manage to get a goal back with a fantastic low strike from outside the are to spark hope of a potential comeback with ten minutes to go, but it wasn’t to be.
What Roberto De Zerbi had to say

“I’m really disappointed with the result,” the Italian said, speaking to Sussex Live. “We were unlucky, we didn’t play badly. The first goal was very strange and then we shot 27 times but we didn’t find the goal and in counter-attack they scored two more goals.
“The first goal was crucial in the game. After it they defended deeper and there was much less space and it’s difficult to find the spaces when one team is within 20 metres [of their goal]. If you keep the ball a lot of time like we did today it’s normal that the opponent can counter-attack.
“We attacked stronger in the second half and if we make it 1-1 it can be a totally different game. We made a lot of mistakes with the last pass but we are Brighton, and we can’t forget that.
“I’m proud of the players, their attitude and behaviour. Losing can happen, it’s not a problem and on Monday we start a new week with the same enthusiasm and passion to win the next game.”
Brighton’s next match is at home to Newcastle United this upcoming Saturday evening.
Meanwhile, Brighton are said to be close to signing Carlos Baleba from Lille.
