On Wednesday, Brighton completed the signing of Brazilian defender Igor Julio from Fiorentina on a four year deal.
Igor was a huge part in I Viola’s Conference League final run last season before featuring in the final defeat to West Ham.
He made 42 appearances for Fiorentina across all competitions in the 2022-23 season, which saw him impress across Europe but Brighton saw it fit to bring him in.
While the fee is officially undisclosed, The Athletic reported that an initial €17million (£14.5m) fee had been agreed.
The same report stated that The Seagulls beat Fulham, Forest and Villareal to secure the 25-year-old.

Igor speaks on Brighton move
Following his move, Igor spoke to Brighton’s club website as he revealed his joy at moving.
“I’m very happy and excited to start playing as soon as possible. I’m happy to be here,” he said. “I want to be here to play for the coach that wanted me and the style of play at Brighton also fits well with my own style.”
He continued to insist he will always give 100% at the club, “As always, I’m going to play the hardest as possible on the pitch. I’ll do my best every day, but most importantly to try and win the heart of the fans.”
Igor is hopeful of his European exploits benefitting Brighton next season as they embark on a Europa League journey.
“It’s always good to have an experience in European competition. It’s my first time playing in the Europa League but I’m hoping to add to the team as much as possible and play as hard as I can to help in our European journey.”
Finally he expressed his excitement at the chance to work with Roberto De Zerbi.
“I can’t wait to train and play for Roberto. He’s a fantastic coach and I think I can evolve so much under him. I want to become one of the best defenders in the team.”
