Brighton attacker Andi Zeqiri is attracting interest from recently relegated duo Southampton and Leicester City in the Championship.

According to Charlie Gordon, both Southampton and Leicester have enquired about the availability of Zeqiri, but Zeqiri is also in discussion with Lille in Ligue 1, who whilst talks are still early, are leading the race.

Zeqiri spent last season on loan in Switzerland at Basel, but the Swiss giants were unable to persuade Zeqiri to take a pay cut to rejoin them permanently.

The Swiss international only has one year remaining on his contract at Brighton.

Is Andi Zeqiri one of Brighton’s failures of their recruitment strategy?

Andi Zeqiri joined Brighton in October 2020 from Lausanne in his homeland of Switzerland for an undisclosed fee and has played for Switzerland from U15 level all the way up to the senior team. He only went on to play nine games for the club in his debut season, before being loaned out in 21/22 to Augsburg.

In an unsuccessful loan spell where he scored two goals in 22 appearances, he then returned to Switzerland last season where he joined Basel.

Zeqiri needed this loan spell for his career and he ended the Swiss Super League season with eleven goals in 30 games, which has led to interest in his services by multiple teams now.

Zeqiri is surplus to requirements at Brighton and having not featured during in pre-season, he could be available on a cheap deal. Brighton have been starting to clear off their deadwood, by selling the likes of Michal Karbownik to Hertha Berlin last week.
