Brighton have made a move to sign Barcelona winger Ansu Fati on loan.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Fati will be joining up with Brighton on loan for the remainder of the season, with no option to buy, and Brighton will covering the majority of his wages.

It is also said that Tottenham were interested and had spoke to Barcelona about the possibility of bringing him in, but they have decided to prioritise Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson.

Ansu Fati is a Spanish winger who came through the famous academy of Barcelona, La Masia.

The 20-year-old made his debut in August 2019, becoming Barcelona’s second youngest player in tbh club’s history. Since then he has gone on to make 80 appearances, scoring 22 goals.

He has also represented Spain at under-21 and senior level, making nine appearances for the seniors to date, scoring two goals. He was part of the squad that won the Nations League in June.

Fati is considered to be one of the most promising talents in world football, being compared to Lionel Messi in the past.

Despite this, he has found game time limited at the Nou Camp. He made 36 appearances in La Liga last season, but he only started 12 of those, scoring seven goals and getting three assists.

Barcelona probably feel that sending him out on loan to a side playing in Europe would be a good move for him to get regular starts and he’ll him develop, and with Brighton’s style of play and their knack for developing young players, this seems like the perfect love for all parties.

Brighton have been linked with with signing other wingers like Brian Aguirre and Amine Adli, after it was confirmed that Julio Enciso will be facing four months on the sidelines with a knee injury.
