Brighton striker Evan Ferguson has been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award.
The Professional Footballers Association confirmed earlier today that Ferguson has been nominated for the prestigious award for last season, a year in which Ferguson broke onto the scene scoring six goals in 19 games for the Seagulls.
He is amongst some of the best players in the league to be nominated, such as Erling Haaland, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
Moises Caicedo, who recently departed for Chelsea, has also been nominated for his efforts for Brighton last season, a year in which they claimed European football for the first time.
Does Evan Ferguson deserve to win the award?

Ferguson has had a meteoric rise in the game to say the least, from starting out in his native Ireland to moving to Brighton in January 2021, to becoming a regular for them in the Premier League and now to be nominated for this award.
This nomination would cap off what has been a brilliant year for the 18-year-old, which includes making his senior debut for the Republic of Ireland national side, too.
However, as good as this season has been, it is unlikely for him to win this award with the likes of the top scorer Haaland and Saka, who got double figures in both goals and assists this season, also nominated for the award.
Despite this, it should not mean that anything should be taken away from the striker, who looks to be one of the next stars for Brighton in the coming years after a senior member of staff confirmed they would like to keep him for ‘years’.
